About me

 

I am an independent scholar, educator, and translator.

I translate from and into Italian and publish in literary and cultural criticism. In all my work, I champion eclectic and unsung voices. I am experienced with a variety of projects, including fiction, poetry, academic essays, marketing content, film screenplays and subtitles. My translations and writing have been featured in Two Lines, the Chicago Review, and elsewhere.

A San Francisco native with Florentine roots, I’ve ventured from the West Coast to Italy and back. My training in the humanities began at UC Berkeley, continued at the University of Bologna, and led me to earn a Masters in European languages from the University of Milan on a multi-year fellowship from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I returned to Berkeley to complete my Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, researching the influence of emerging technologies like radio on avant-garde authors of the early 20th century.

Alongside translation, I currently work for the UCLA Academic Senate, where I consult on policy impacting undergraduate education. I previously taught courses on composition, literature, and Italian language and culture, before managing transatlantic research programs and grants for the Institute of European Studies and France-Berkeley Fund at UC Berkeley.
